King of Meat
Amazon Games - Senior Production Coordinator
About
King of Meat is a co-op party platformer, pitting up to 4 players against devious dungeons filled with puzzles to solve, challenges to traverse, and ridiculous monsters to fight. It was developed by UK indie Studio Glowmade in Collaboration with Amazon Games
My Contribution
When I was brought on to this project in was during pre-production and we didn't really know the scale of how big this project was about to get .
Amazon brought our team on specifically for the 2D elements on the show and I was to Coordinate for the Story Board, Background, Design, and post production teams. I worked very closely with the Art Directors from our team as well as the head writers and producers from Amazon to finalize 2D designs for the project.
CHALLENGES
2D assets 3D world
All of our original concept work to work off of were actually 3D from the game in development.
It became critical to have constant and clear communication between client and artists.
We created a flow where we would review with our artists biweekly and send off our designs to client for approval daily. Nearing the end of the show we ramped up client approval time to a 48hr window
Team Expansion
At the beginning of our production there was a team of about 5 of us. By the end of our production I was a Senior Production Coordinator managing 4 departments and a full roster of 25-30 artists. Although jarring at first to bring on so many new artists to onboard all at once, it was over all very exciting.
On my end it required daily scrums with our team, clear and accesible information on where files were located and a more rigid system for naming formats and asset organizing. I had to make sure each department had a clear idea of what to expect from the previous department in the pipeline.
Most importantly I had to be very clear that each artist knew when their individual deadlines were and how it would affect the rest of the pipeline if they weren’t met.
