Brighter is a Graphic novel series about a world living in nightfall.

Every light source comes from somewhere in this world and that's where our beloved heroes come along. Join Roh, Vokko and Zaiyah as they journey through this magical spirit world in search of what was told to fix everything, the legendary First Light.

Production Story of Brighter

Book 1 - Brighter the Prologue

Brighter - The Prologue was written and illustrated in the span of 2 months.
First I laid out all the individual MUST have story beats to create our first draft of the script
After we had that, I put on my director hat wrote out a full shot list of what I wanted to see alongside each of these panels

Then along came #Inktober - a month long artist event where creators are encouraged to make one handpainted artwork a day throughout the month of October.
I had 30 panels drafted. There was 31 days in October. I think you see where I’ going with this.
Many artists use a prompt list for this art challenge and share it on social media but I wanted to take it a step further and livestream every panel as I was inking it. From here we grew a mass following for the series quickly. It went from an art experiment to “where is she taking this story?!” in just a few days.

Shortly after the month wrapped I started scouting out manufacturers, local publishers and distributors. I spoke to a few publishing houses but as of now still haven’t landed on one I align with. The series remains self published while having sold over 300 copies world wide.

Roh’s and Vokko

SHE/HER
AGE;17

Roh is the main protaganist of our story and the character I’ve worked on the longest. Roh is a purple flame, and the first of her kind. She's got a lot of spunk and it can get her into trouble at times but more than anything she really just wants a place to belong. Roh's journey begins when she finally sets out to find the Red Flame District with her trusted Lava spirit Vokko and a new found friend accompanying her.

Zaiyah

AGE: 19

Zaiyah is our other protagonist in the Brighter world. Like all Looms (Short for Bioluminescents) she was raised in the glowing tunnels of Lumira. She’s quick witted, stealthy and quick to cut someone down if they’re even remotely a threat. Despite all that, she’s left her home in search of something… maybe a certain purple flame girl can help her out.
